Good afternoon, Silverhawk Middle School Parents,

We will begin the process of upcoming seventh and upcoming eighth grade course requests for the 2026-2027 school year. Your child will bring home their course request form this week or next as it is being rolled out per period by social studies teachers.

The due date for returning the completed course request form to the designated grade level box in my office is February 13, 2026.

The course selection form is required to be a student with parent activity so I wanted to ensure you have access to all of the information to coach your child through this process.  Attached, you will find a copy of the course request form and the elective information sheet your student received. Below are a few key points to help guide you through the process:

Core Classes

• Core classes (ELA, math, science, social studies) do not require parent or student selection.
• These classes are scheduled based on PM3 results from the current school year.
• If you have specific requests regarding core class placement, please feel free to contact me.

Elective Courses

• The back of the form includes potential elective options for the 2026-2027 school year. 
• Students are asked to rank all electives, with 1 being their top choice and in order of want to the end of the elective list. 
• PE is an elective all students are enrolled in. If you have requests regarding PE enrollment, please reach out to me directly so we can discuss other available options. (This includes Dance in lieu of PE or a Band/Orchestra student request.)
• While we aim to schedule each student into 1–2 of their top three choices, placement is not guaranteed.

• The attached elective information sheet provides brief descriptions of each elective option to support students in making informed choices.
